I hope they will release a 25 years aniversary box for 1492, conquest of paradise too. :P There are still many peaces from the movie never released on cd. For example the scene with the bell and that was an awasome piece of music!

And autodafe (killing of heretics) scene...

There's remake of Klaus Schulze of main theme from "1492" - it was a single.
Klaus Schulze stated that theme by Vangelis is based on Russian melody...
Though I'm Russian and theme really sounds familiar for me - I couldn't name the title of original Russian melody.

So...

I was in the mood for some Vangelis today, and decided to check out one of my absolute favorites of his, "Conquest of Paradise", on YouTube.

Then again, I'm wondering, seeing as how I've never seen the movie, what would be the proper chronological order for this album?

"1492: Conquest of Paradise" - it was half-millenium celebration - so the music is from 1992.
The film is with great Depardieu playing and directed by Ridley Scott, famous for his "Gladiator", but it's usual big style historic film. Beautiful, but no more.

So, I take it you don't like it, Sergey? ;)

Seriously though, if the rest of the music is as beautiful as the visuals, then how do I organize it chronologically?

Let's put it so - it's not the best film by Ridley Scott, he could do it better ;)
By the way, there are many fragments of music in the film which were not included on the album.

To me, 1492 is visually (and sonically of course) outstanding, the script and plot though have some deficiencies, too bad...

I was amazed to find out that there is no Official American DVD release for this movie so I cant rent it on Netflix!!! I found mention of a rumored 4 hour version that Ridley Scott is working on

You have to get a Brazilian Import or an Australian version I think,, I would love a Blu Ray version...
I find it curious of all the Rubbish movies out there on DVD going back40 years or more somebody chooses "1492 a Conquest of Paradise" as not worthy for release in England or the USA, Directed by Ridley Scott at that..

I would like to fantasise of a Ridley Scott Box collection on Blu Ray :- Alien, Gladiator, "1492", Bladerunner,... I dream perhaps

There is a Blu Ray Box Set in the works for the Alien Trilogy to be released in December 2010.

Also he is working on special Director's Cuts of both Gladiator and 1492 for Blu Ray.

Finally, Ridley Scott is currently developing the Alien Pre-Quel/Reboot that he will direct. It was to be directed by Director Carl Erik Rinsch, his son-in-law (he's married to Jordan Scott and a big Commercial Director) but Fox Studios said they would only greenlight it if Ridley directed it himself. On a side note, both Ridley and Tony are looking into possibly purchasing MGM Studios for themselves to run. They would then own the James Bond franchise.

By the way, some films by Tony Scott also not bad - I like his "True Romance", "Man on Fire", "Spy Game"...
As to director's version of "1492" - it would be a chance for Ridley to edit out from his film the bus which running through 15th century Spain ;)
